20 Years of Quick-Step in the Peloton: “No Honor Roll Round? This Doesn’t Keep Me Awake” | Cycling

Everyone knows that Quick-Step, by any means, has amassed a lot of victories over the past 20 years. But the numbers are still mind-boggling.

Over 860 UCI victories, 108 Grand Tour stages, 20 impacts, 64 national titles, 16 world titles, etc.

“In 2003 we started with hope, but don’t forget I’ve been in this field for 20 years,” says Patrick Lefevre (67).

Before Quick-Step became the team’s main sponsor, he had already tasted the great Mapei’s cycling.

“We wouldn’t have won Milan-Sanremo with this Italian team, but in our first year Paolo Pettini immediately won La Primavera.”

Since then, the train has never stopped. With the exception of two poor years, and due to sponsorship issues, among other things, Patrick Lefevre’s team has always been on top.

“Our secret? Togetherness and my faith in the team. Everyone asks what The Wolfpack means, but some secrets you can’t reveal. It’s a naturally grown agreement.”

Lefevere does not want to choose the most admired international star he has worked with. He also fills his wish list in his own way.

they say The tour is missing from our honors list. I always say: It will not be written on my grave that I did not win the Tour.”

“I don’t lose sleep over it. Hopefully it will, but you can’t buy something like that.”

“A phenomenon like Tadej Pogacar isn’t promising of course, but at the time it was thought Jan Ullrich would win the Tour 7 times. He did it once, so we’re not giving up.”
