It looks like Dutch vlogger Bas Tetema is quietly preparing to work as a professional cyclist. In Spain, he has already had two trainings with the Belgian squad Bingoal-Pauwels Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles. “We don’t know where this will end,” said team principal Christoph Brandt.
Bas Tetema has gained a lot of popularity as a vlogger in recent years. In the previous round, for example, he had riders compete against each other in a wheelie competition in a single stage.
Last week, the 26-year-old Dutchman was spotted in Spain, where Tetema went on practice rides with the professional cyclists of Pengual Pauls Suzanne and Aloni Brussels.
Do you aspire to a professional career? “Bass wants to see what level he can achieve if he trains with professional cyclists,” says Christoph Brandt, Bingoal-Pauwels Director Sauzen-Wallonie Bruxelles.
“Bass has already trained during our training period in December. He’s getting better every time and we don’t know where that will end up.”
Is there a professional contract waiting for Tietema? “It still needs to make some progress. In a few months we’ll evaluate it. Anything is possible.”

It’s also no coincidence that Tetema trains with the Pengual Passengers Paul Suzanne and Aloni Brussels.
“Bingoal supports Bass with his vlog activities. We’ve already had several conversations with him to create content for our team as well.”
But maybe it’s not just about creating content and the vlogger becoming a runner…to keep going.

Ttema was already on the podium in Paris-Roubaix
Bass Tetema is no stranger to the peloton. As a young rider, he finished third at Paris-Roubaix in 2014 for U23. Nathan van Hooydonk, Pavel Sivakov and Luke Flegin were teammates on the BMC coaching staff.
At the end of 2018, he described it as having quit as a passenger. Ttema got into cycling trouble again last year and created his own cycling team with two vlog buddies: the Tour de Tetema Cycling Team. In September, Tetema finished fourth in a Dutch amateur race.
