Dutch actress Truss Decker has died at the age of 99

Dutch actress Truss Dekker died on January 8 at the age of 99. Producer Ellen Gaines, who was a friend of hers, announced this on Friday. Dekker is best known for the roles she played in the Wim T. Schippers TV series. She died in her sleep.

In the 90s, the actress played Neil van der Hooyd Smolders in the series “We’re Home Again” for fifty episodes. In the 1980s she played Loes de Wilde in “In Search of Jolanda”, another series by Schippers. For a long time she could also be seen as the mother of Jaap Koeman in the KRO hit “When Happiness Was So Natural”.

Decker graduated from drama school in 1946. She began her acting career in the 1950s and 1960s with Dutch comedies and has worked regularly on radio and television programmes.

The actress also played small roles in cinematic films such as “Turkish Fruit”, “Soldaat van Oranje” and “Spetters”. After her retirement, Dekker occasionally played supporting roles in such successful series as Dokter Deen, Flikken Maastricht, and De Co-assisent. Her last television role was in 2013, in the series Doctor Tinus.
