Eli Eserbet announced yesterday that he’s taking a different path this summer. The Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal rider will include a number of mountain bike races on his programme.
Cyclocross season is almost over for the crossers and then the focus shifts to the road program. Eli Esperet revealed yesterday that he will not only focus on the road in the summer. The cross will also appear on the mountain bike.
“As a continental team, it’s still hard to include the races in the road programme. Every summer is the same with the Baloise Belgium Tour, for example. If you always ride the same laps, you won’t be excited anymore. It’s ideal to discover something new”, Eli Eserbet says:
I want to discover myself in mountain biking.
It is not yet known what competitions Iserbyt will lead, but he wants to try out the World Cup Tour. “I don’t know to what level I will be able to ride. It will be research. The goal is to ride the World Cup Tour and see how it is.”
Iserbyt sure can handle a cross bike, but he has no mountain biking experience. “I have no experience and in the descent I am a normal person. I will have to improve everything, but I want to find myself in it and do it a little more.”
Brush up on technology
Just as riders gain experience in road season, he also considers the cross when performing in mountain biking. “We’re planning to improve my technique, which sometimes isn’t very good,” Esserbitt said.
Eli Iserbyt has won two classifications this season for motorcycles: the World Cup and the Superprestige.
