“Today, the United States, along with the G7 and the European Union, continues to impose severe and immediate sanctions on Putin’s regime in Ukraine for its atrocities, including that of Putia,” the statement said.
The new sanctions include a complete freeze on Russia’s largest public sector bank, Sherbank, and the United States’ largest private bank, Alpha Bank. “It will affect the Kremlin’s ability to use these companies to fund the war in Ukraine,” and there will be a complete ban on limited transactions with state – owned companies.
Washington also imposes sanctions on the Russian elite. They include Putin’s adult children, Lavrov’s daughter and wife, and members of the Russian Security Council, including former President Dmitry Medvedev and former Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“These individuals have enriched themselves at the expense of the Russian people. Some of them are responsible for providing the necessary support for Putin’s war in Ukraine.
