Philipsen responded to the accident after the ride. “I’m not happy that Edward Blankart fell that way after doing a great job.”
“I was following Lionel Tamino, as I wanted to make space for Blancart to my left,” Philipsen wrote.
“But I got a push from the oath and couldn’t go any other way. I just hope (Blancart) and the other riders who crashed are fine and recovering well.”
