Controversial documentary series headwind The audience award will be given at the presentation of the Flemish Culture Awards on Tuesday.
The series, which revolves around the Corona crisis, received the largest number of audience votes out of 136 candidates. Online voting was possible. The prize is accompanied by a cash prize of €10,000.
According to the organization, the audience award aims to honor individuals and organizations “who contribute to the expansion of culture.” The series disappeared from the shortlist a few weeks ago, but reappeared later. The series is written by director Mark Sanders and journalist couple Jacobian Huisman and Alan Grotters, three fierce opponents of Corona policy and Corona vaccines. They themselves classify their series as “critical and independent journalism”.
at headwind A few notable corona critics from Flanders and the Netherlands – described by the decision-makers themselves as ‘six scientists in the eye of the corona storm’ – Professors Levin Annemanns (economics), Matthias Desmett (psychology) and Teo Scheitters (biology), pollster Maurice De Hund, privacy law professor Paul de Hurt and health scientist Sam Buken.
