U.S. Meteorological Service warns of iguanas falling in Florida | Abroad

The northeastern parts of the United States have been affected by the blizzard. The worst winter storm to hit the United States in years in an area of 70 million people has caused traffic chaos and power outages.

Major cities such as New York and Boston were affected by the storm. The cold even goes as far as Florida. The NWS Weather Service warns that iguanas may fall from trees, usually in warmer Florida, because the cold will freeze large lizards and cause them to lose their grip.

More than half a meter of snow fell in the worst-affected areas of New York and Massachusetts on Saturday. More than 95,000 homes in the latter state are without electricity and on Long Island, a snowman found a woman dead in his car. About 20 centimeters of snow fell in New York’s Central Park.

Flights canceled

Nearly 5,000 flights were canceled in the United States on Fridays and Saturdays, and more than 1,000 flights were already canceled on Sunday, according to the surveillance website FlightAware.

Although people were advised to stay indoors as much as possible, icy weather did not prevent street artist Robert Burke from performing his act in the famed Times Square on Saturday. He is better known as the ‘naked cowboy’, and on Saturday he went out with a cowboy hat and had only underwear and boots to entertain the tourists, but they were nothing.
