A large container ship docked off the east coast of the United States, and nearly a year later, a ship owned by the same company blocked the Suez Canal for six days, severely affecting world trade.
The 334-meter Ever Forward, flying the Hong Kong flag, was scheduled to depart Baltimore on Sunday and arrive in Norfolk, Virginia on Thursday, before heading to the New York and Panama Canal.
The U.S. Coast Guard said it first received information that the ship was docked at 9pm local time on Sunday evening. According to preliminary information, there were no injuries, pollution or damage to the ship. The Coast Guard is currently working with Maryland authorities to re-float Ever Forward, which sank off Chesapeake Bay off the coast of Baltimore.

In March 2021, a large container ship, the Evergreen, operated by the Evergreen shipping company, froze the Suez Canal for six days after it sank. The incident disrupted traffic on one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, causing major trade chaos.

The siege of the Suez Canal in Egypt ended at the end of March last year. A week later, the container ship Ever Given, which had been stopped, could be released. The crew of the boats that were around shouted and celebrated the event by sounding the sirens of their boats. Check out the video below.
