The World Games begin on Thursday in Birmingham, USA. Some East Flemish athletes hope to medal in these games for non-Olympic athletes.

Floriant Merelbeke wrote a fairy tale in Dutch korball last season. Coach Kevin de Wael’s club took the field and hall title, breaking Antwerp’s years of dominance. This line extends to the national team as well. With Shiara Driesen, Lisa Pauwels, Saar Seys, Lars Courtens and Lennert Impens, no other club has sent more players and players to selection for the World Games. The Belgians were placed in a group with Germany, Suriname and China and it would have been strange if it didn’t come back for the Belgians in the final against the Netherlands.

Aggro, Tumbling & Climbing

And in acrobatic gymnastics it awaits some East Flemish podium clients. Bo Hollebosch forms a great team with Kim Bergmans and Liz de Meist and was crowned world champion in Baku three months ago. It goes without saying that the seventeen-year-old acrogymnast from Sint-Gillis-Vas will put her best foot forward in the States with these letters from the nobility. Victor Vermeier is in the men’s four and a medal is a possibility here as well. Belgian confidence in the fall of Sam d’Hoop. The spring from the Danes has made huge strides in recent months and underlined this by winning the Belgian title. The same can be said of Hannes van Dusen, a guy who still has the cutting edge in mind. From Winterhout the wall climber climbs further and further up the value ladder. Last year, a seventeen-year-old boy from Winterhout won the world youth title. Never before has a countryman succeeded in such an exploit. It goes without saying that Van Deusen now has the World Games as a target as well.
