Princeton University in New Jersey announced this week that families who earn less than $100,000 a year will no longer have to pay to let their children go to Princeton. Princeton University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world and is known for its high academic standard and low acceptance rates.
By providing financial support to low-income families, Princeton University hopes to promote the “social and economic diversity” of students. Previously, tuition and room and board costs were already fully covered for families with an income of less than $65,000 (€64,015) per year. As aid expands, more than 25 percent of Princeton students will now be able to benefit from that financial aid.
A family usually pays $80,000 for a year at Princeton University. Families who earn up to $150,000 (€147,728) annually will be able to count on some financial support.
“One of the defining values at Princeton is our commitment to ensuring that talented students of all backgrounds can not only afford an education at Princeton, but also thrive on campus and in the world beyond”? Princeton University President Christopher L. Isgrober said in a press release.
Students commencing at Princeton University in the fall of 2023 will be the first to benefit from the new and improved Financial Aid Program.
