The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has launched an investigation into the purchase of coronavirus vaccines by the European Union. He doesn’t want to say exactly what hit EPPO.
There has been criticism for some time about the secrecy the European Commission keeps about, say, billion-dollar contracts with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the main supplier of vaccines.
Start this year The European Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, has criticized the lack of transparency over text messages between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Pfizer CEO Albert Burla.
Recently The European Court of Auditors issued a review that once again showed that von der Leyen did not want to provide insight into the negotiations. Auditors describe this frequency as “extremely unusual”. The Commission has ordered a total of 1.8 billion doses of the Corona vaccine from Pfizer and Biotech for member states in Europe.

At a hearing of the European Parliament’s special committee on Covid-19 last week, a Pfizer executive denied that the CEO was negotiating with the European Commission via text message. “All the negotiations and conversations from the start in 2020,” said Janine Small, who shared the private Pfizer account.
The commission also fought a dispute in court with vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca, which failed to deliver on promised deliveries.
