Zelensky wants to increase grain exports and calls for energy savings | Ukraine and Russia war

Since Moscow threatened to terminate the grain export agreement, Zelensky stressed its importance. Although the war has hampered grain exports, Ukraine has transported nearly eight million tons of food by sea since the agreement reached earlier during the war. That’s more than 300 ships. And 60 percent of the amount went to Africa and Asia. Zelensky announced plans to increase exports.

A few days ago, Russia threatened to suspend the grain deal and close Ukrainian ports again. Last month, President Vladimir Putin described the deal as a “rip-off”. After all, according to him, the agreed relief of sanctions against the Russian food and fertilizer industry is not respected. The Russian president also suggested that Ukraine transport the explosives that hit the Crimean bridge by sea. In his video message, Zelensky compared the importance of Ukraine’s grain exports in the fight against hunger around the world with Russian claims.

Moreover, the Ukrainian president did not provide any new information about developments on the ground, although he acknowledged heavy fighting around the cities of Bashmut and Soledar in the eastern region of Donetsk. There are Russian forces on the offensive.

He asked his countrymen to provide electricity. “Because of the Russian ‘missile terrorism’ in some Ukrainian cities and regions, it is necessary to limit the energy supply to maintain the stability of the power grid.” Especially during peak hours in the evening, electricity must be supplied to avoid overloading.
