About four years pass before Danny proposes to his girlfriend. “We were also very young. I was 19 and he was 21,” says Catherine. “That’s why I wanted to work permanently first, before Danny suggested me.”

On a hot summer day in 1986, the couple decided to plan a day trip to Paris. “It was not at all intuitive to us,” says Catherine. “Danny worked in his parents’ flower shop and had no free time. So we only saw each other Saturday and Sunday evenings after the market. But we needed a vacation, and Danny managed to arrange his father’s car. In the early morning hours we left for the city of love.”

Their first stop is the Palace of Versailles. There Danny and Catherine decided to rent a rowboat in the gardens. After their romantic rowboat trip, the couple decided to explore Paris more. “We booked a boat trip on the Seine, passed the Eiffel Tower and had dinner in Montmartre, where we also had a typical cartoon,” says Danny. Catherine adds, “We finally got home at 3 a.m., so I headed straight to work. It was a busy day, but memorable.”
