A court in the Iranian capital, Tehran, issued the first death sentence against a protester. Ngo Iran Human Rights fears more death sentences and warns of ” hasty executions”.
Hostilities against God, burning of a government building, corruption on the ground, disturbing public order, and plots to commit a crime against national security. For this series of charges, a judge in Tehran sentenced an unnamed first person to death. Iranian news site Mizan reported.
The protesters were previously sentenced to five to ten years in prison. More than 2,000 people have been charged with participating in protests in the past two months. According to the Norway-based Iranian human rights NGO, at least 20 of them are facing the death penalty.

The protests in Iran began after the death of Masha Amini. The 22-year-old woman died in a cell after being brutally arrested for not wearing a headscarf according to Islamic law. Since then, Iranians have taken to the streets for women’s rights and more freedom. The Iranian regime has been trying to crush the protest by force for two months.
For example, the Iranian parliament recently passed legislation that expands the use of the death penalty, and also targets protesters. Therefore, the Human Rights Organization in Iran warns of “hasty executions”. Their director called on the international community to “severely warn” Iran of the consequences of the executions. On Monday, the European Union approved a new set of sanctions.
According to figures from Iran Human Rights, 326 people were killed in the demonstrations, including 43 children.
