On Saturday to help Broadway Cares, Nicole Kidman made an adorable display of the hat worn by fellow actor and fellow Australian Hugh Jackman for his role in The Music Man.
In a video Jackman shared from the auction, he and opponent Nicholas Ward demanded that the public beat the highest bid of $19,000 (€18,160). Kidman exclaimed in surprise, “I’m showing 100,000!” An upset Jackman replies, “Nick! I just want to be clear: This isn’t about the Australian dollar (100,000 AUD is €64,000, much less than $100,000 USD or €96,000, ed.)!” Kidman then gets on stage and says, “I I love you, I love Broadway. I love what they do, Broadway Cares. But I just want to say that the show was exceptional,” Kidman said.
Jackman then hands her the hat: “I’ve known Nick for almost 30 years. I’ve worked with her and I can tell you this comes as no surprise. She’s one of the most generous souls I know. A lovely person I love.”
