He has been doing this for over thirty years. At the end of each show, singer Axl Rose threw his microphone into the audience “so that the viewers would have a chance to grab the microphone”. And he did just that last Tuesday, at the end of the Guns N’ Roses show at Adelaide Oval. during the song “Paradise City”. But this time an error occurred. Fan Rebecca Howe was unable to pick up the microphone, but she was hit in the face and injured. Pictures appeared in local media showing bruises under her eyes and cuts on her nose.
Axl Rose – who turns 60 this year – has since responded to the incident. “Of course we don’t want anyone to get hurt during our performance,” he wrote on Twitter. “After more than thirty years of ditching the microphone, we felt it became part of our show. But for the sake of public safety, we won’t do that from now on.”
