The Kaleidoscope can’t be viewed in just one way. There are not one, two or three episodes to the series, but as a viewer you can choose which colors each is associated with an episode. All viewers eventually see all of the episodes, but the order in which they watch them is up to them. You can also choose which color you want to continue with, although the makers highly recommend watching the final “White” episode, as it continues the storyline. There are a total of 5,040 ways to watch the series.
In “Kaleidoscope” you as the viewer follow a group of thieves trying to break into a safe containing the biggest loot in history. Breaking into it seems almost impossible, because the safe is guarded by the best security team in the world. All of the episodes—the eight episodes spanning 24 years—contain puzzle pieces for the story’s eventual conclusion. Each color represents a different time frame.
Hurricane Sandy
There is no right or wrong way to watch the series, but Netflix has already released the four best ways. “I came up with some sequences so you don’t have to do that anymore,” the Netflix tweet reads.
Creator Eric Garcia was inspired by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, when the storm caused flooding in an underground vault belonging to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. “After Hurricane Sandy, $70 billion worth of bonds were underwater in the basement of DTCC, which is a large clearinghouse owned by a number of major banks. I thought in my head: Well, this is a perfect cover for the robbery,” Eric Garcia says during an interview with TodomAnd Official website of Netflix itself.
