“More than 500 dead” in the protests in Iran, according to the human rights organization HRANA | Abroad

At least 522 people have been killed so far in protests against the Iranian authorities. This was stated by a US-based human rights organization, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

Iran’s human rights agency said the dead included 70 minors and 68 agents and members of the security services. Nearly 20,000 people were arrested, including 110 on charges that could carry the death penalty. Iran has already executed four protesters.

The protest was sparked in the wake of the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini following her arrest by the Vice Squad. She was arrested for allegedly violating the dress code for women.

The authorities said earlier that hundreds of people were killed, including members of the security forces. At the beginning of this week, the Iranian NGO Human Rights reported that at least 481 people had been killed by the security forces. Among them, 64 children and 35 women.
