He lives. We may not have the money to live there ourselves, but we all love to look at and dream about a great home. That’s why we feature Amazing Home every Wednesday. This week is the Inn in the Norwegian Fjords.
In the High North on one, you can enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Norway, while Annie Struve pays a visit to her compatriots who live there. There is no place in this vast country where lovers of nature and a cold climate would not want to live, we still think. But the most beautiful is probably here, in the south of the country near Stavanger.
In Lysefjord 42 km long and up to 500 meters deep, one of the most amazing fjords in the world, the architectural firm Snohetta has designed four lodges that are unique because they are built on a plateau where you enjoy the greatest contact with the environment. The houses aren’t big – barely 40 square meters – but those who stay there don’t need more because of the massive sense of space you experience when you look outside.
The lodge has been built with the smallest environmental footprint possible. In order not to disturb the view, it rests on a narrow pedestal and also seems to float. The interior is finished with natural and sustainable materials. The decor is sober, so as not to distract from what really matters. For furniture, we have collaborated with the Danish brand Vipp. Accommodation starts from 360 euros per night for two people. The largest houses can accommodate four people. You can reserve here.
