What exactly does the second base power pack include?

The federal government allocates the second Basic Package to each household with an existing contract for electricity and/or gas on December 31, 2022 or to households with a gas collective facility on that date.

The premium applies to all variable contracts. If you had a permanent contract at the turn of the year, you will only receive the installments if you have entered into or renewed that contract after September 30, 2021.

With energy markets stabilizing: Will there be any (new) permanent contracts on the market?

In one motion for three months

The second basic electricity package is 61 euros per month. For the months of January, February and March, this totals €183. For natural gas, the federal government offers a premium of 135 euros per month or a total of 405 euros.

Your energy supplier settles the full amount of the second basic package in one step via prepaid bill or settlement bill, or credits it to your account. The phrase “Federal Basic Package Electricity 2023” or “Federal Basic Package Gas 2023” is always included.

Settlement via March Invoice

A survey of the five largest energy suppliers tells us that in most cases the second basic package has not yet been settled. Engie, Luminus, Eneco, TotalEnergies, and Mega have announced that they have started processing and that customers can expect to be paid via their March bill. The federal government sets April 1 as the final deadline. If your bill is less than the installment, the payment must be made before April 18, 2023.

So it is best to keep an eye on the following bills from your energy supplier. If the premium has not been settled by those deadlines, you can apply starting April 23, 2023 via the FPS Economy website.

The federal government’s energy agreement has been reached: VAT remained at 6 percent; Excise duty from April 1.

What if I change the power supply?

You will receive a premium from the company that was your energy supplier on December 31, 2022, even if you change energy supplier or move in the meantime.
