It was a great substitution in the 65th minute. STVV coach Bernd Hollerbach pushed forward Abubakari Quetta to the side and put Maximiliano Coverez – usually a winger defender – in his place.
“Why did you put Kufries in the attack? I don’t have a single striker,” Hollerbach shrugged afterward and asked what his intentions were. “It’s long and I hope it’s in the right place someday. Every match is very important to us now. I hope there is more quality, otherwise it will be very difficult.”
Yuma Suzuki, last year’s STVV offensive captain, sat in the stands as he was looking for a transmission. Hollerbach watched with sadness his team’s failure to turn the crooked situation.
“You’re late for the first minute and then you’re late for the whole game,” Hollerbach said. “We gave everything and had chances, but it wasn’t enough.”
Subsequently, STVV supporters criticized the board, having done so once earlier this summer. Then there was a meeting between Japanese contributors and fans. In it, the board mentioned the lack of transfers with reference to the difficult financial situation in which the club finds itself.
