In one day, 800,000 North Korean citizens volunteered to fight against the United States on Friday. At least, that’s what the North Korean state newspaper Rong Sinmun said Saturday. Students and workers from all over the country will be involved.

The impressive claim comes after North Korea delivered a new type of ballistic missile earlier this week. The Hwasong-17 was launched Thursday in a demonstration between the Korean Peninsula and Japan. With this, North Korea responded to the South Korean president’s visit to Japan, where a meeting was planned on dealing with North Korea.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s willingness to flex his muscles is also linked to large-scale military exercises currently taking place in South Korea and the United States. Since Monday, the armies of both countries have been engaged in an 11-day training program to counter threats from the North.
Washington, Tokyo and Seoul have already condemned the new North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile. They point out that such ballistic missiles are banned under United Nations Security Council rules.
