Mrs. Hersma (not her real name) made her annual tour of the Austrian Cottage last June. This is very remarkable, because the lady is now 76 years old and has been suffering from osteoporosis for more than 20 years.
However, she can still pursue her wonderful hobbies, hiking in the mountains and Nordic walking, without pain. Since the Eight Remedies series 15 years ago, the lady still visits me from time to time. Then I treat her several times with medical acupuncture for the pain from her collapsed vertebrae. This way she can keep moving and this movement is good against decalcification of the bones. In this way, the lady can stay middle-aged.
From the age of 35, our body slowly breaks down more bone than it makes. Then your bone tissue loses more and more bone minerals, especially calcium. As a result, bone mass decreases and a change in bone structure also occurs: it becomes porous. So the chance of a broken bone is increasing. And the vertebrae often collapse: these are also traumatic fractures. The Netherlands Institute for Mental Health estimates that around 850,000 people in the Netherlands suffer from osteoporosis. Many people don’t realize that. They suffer, but they don’t know where the pain comes from.
Scientists believe that you can stop the progression of osteoporosis or even reduce osteoporosis by putting more weight on your body. So by moving. Of course, this burden is only possible if you are pain-free. This is where medical acupuncture comes in: With medical acupuncture I can often treat pain and inflammation very well. People are often pain-free after several treatments or experience much less pain.
Osteoarthritis is sometimes confused with osteoarthritis, but arthritis is a rheumatic disease. The cartilage in the joint wears out. It is now scientifically proven that acupuncture often works very well against pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis and other rheumatic diseases.
