A bolt from the blue: RWDM head coach Vincent Liuvard sacked a week before competition starts | Jupiler Pro League

Vincent Euvard was king a few months ago when he was able to steer his brilliant RWDM to the highest level.

Euvrard celebrated the title on the court, along with American owner John Textor. But now it looks like he’s stabbing his coach in the back a few days before the start of the competition.

Textor increasingly wants to make his mark on the Brussels club and unofficially push club president Thierry Delle, who has accused him of embezzlement, intimidation and abuse of power.

Now Joffard has to pay the price, even though the club won its last exhibition match against Lyon last weekend, 1-0. Together with Euvrard, his assistants Jonathan Alves, Fred Stillmant and Terry Bergmans walked out the door.

Textor remains somewhat vague about the true circumstances of Leeward’s sacking and his staff in a statement on the club’s website.

“Vincent has shown that he can coach at the highest level in European football. I am also convinced that he will succeed in his career,” things started rosy.

“We’ve also taken into account his strong leadership in recent seasons, but we’re still looking to lay a foundation for continued success in the top flight and, ultimately, in Europe.”

“Just as we want to attract players whose profile aligns with our vision of success, we want to approach team leadership in the same way. Our core belief is that collaboration – both regionally and globally – between our clubs and communities is at the heart of our competitive strategy.”

Textor seems to be indicating that it wants to put a guy from its own network into the RWDM. In addition to the Brussels club, Lyon, Crystal Palace and Botafogo are also in his portfolio.

The American businessman concludes his statement with a few essentially empty phrases, after which he concludes the press release by announcing that Yovard’s successor will be announced tomorrow.

RWDM will play its first match since promotion on Saturday, at home against vice-champions Racing Genk.
