Singer and actress Gomez plays a lead role in the series alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin, for which she is also a producer. The actress shared a video of herself filming Only Murders in the Building, which can be watched on streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, among others. Season 3 started a few weeks ago. Gomez herself didn’t say anything in her post, but she did tag the series’ official Instagram account. The post received more than 1.1 million likes in 15 hours before it was deleted from the internet.
The fact that Gomez shared a video of a series in which she can be seen goes against the strict rules of the striking actors union SAG-AFTRA. These stipulate that members do not promote their work through interviews or social media posts while on strike. The union was opposed ‘Variety did not respond to the news.
The WGA screenwriters guild and the actors union SAG-AFTRA have gone on strike in hopes of forcing better working conditions at studios and streaming services. Screenwriters stop working in May, and actors feed back in July. The strike largely paralyzed the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and New York. Only reality series and documentaries can still be produced.
