Linda Evangelista talks about years of battle with breast cancer that led to a double mastectomy | celebrities

Linda Evangelist found out she had breast cancer in December 2018 during her annual mammogram, according to a new interview with WSJ Magazine. Five years later, she shared this diagnosis with the world for the first time. She chose to have both breasts removed. It is not clear whether she also went to rebuild after that.

“My chances were not good, and due to other health factors, I chose to have a double mastectomy without hesitation, because I wanted to leave everything behind and not have to deal with this. I thought I was good for life. Breast cancer won’t kill me.”

But last year, the model again felt a lump in her chest muscle, so she rushed to the oncologist again. She “wasn’t impressed,” she recalls, but it also turned out to be cancer after an MRI. “Dig a hole in my chest,” Evangelista asked her doctor at the time. I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to dig. I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? “I will not die from this.”

Since then, Evangelista’s prognosis has been good, but not great. Looks like there’s still a chance he’ll come back. Therefore, she received a “terrible oncogenic grade,” indicating how likely she was to be diagnosed with cancer again in the future. “I know my feet are in the grave, but I’m in full party mode,” she says.

Until now, “few people” knew of Linda’s battle with cancer. One of her colleagues was Salma Hayek, the wife of Evangelista’s ex, François-Henri Pinault. She also shares her son Augustine James (16 years old). “I love that woman,” the model says of Hayek. “Like me, she is family-oriented and has a positive attitude. She is a blessing to us. She was so generous and kind to me when I was going through chemotherapy.”
