The controversial president of the Spanish Federation continues to honor himself: “I will submit my resignation” | Spain football

Luis Rubiales has been under fire for several weeks after he kissed a Spanish player full on the mouth after the Women’s World Cup final.

Victim Jenny Hermoso filed a complaint against the president earlier this week. She also stated that she and her family members were pressured into saying that she agreed to the kiss.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) had previously suspended Rubiales for a period of 90 days pending the results of an investigation into him by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

Disciplinary proceedings are also taking place in Spain. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution charged him with intimidation and sexual coercion.

It is up to the investigating judge in Madrid to decide whether there is enough evidence to hold a trial. According to experts, Rubiales faces a prison sentence of between one and four years if he is actually found guilty.

Even so, Rubial is still holding on to power so tightly. Even today, he revealed in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan that he will continue to resign. “I am already resigning,” the 46-year-old Spaniard confirmed.

“I’m resigning because I can no longer continue doing my job. I talked about it with my parents, my daughters and some good friends. They told me I should move on with my life.”

“This matter should not affect the people around me. Resigning was the wisest decision at this time.”
