If, like the Ranger, you’re always in the mood for more pixelated shooting, you might want to keep an eye out for Turbo Overkill. The game from developer Trigger Happy Interactive is an old-school shooter similar to the first Doom, but with a cyberpunk twist. And a chainsaw twist.
This FPS is made by the creator of the popular Doom II mod Total Chaos, so he definitely has experience with shooters. Interestingly enough, 3D Realms co-founder Scott Miller (you know, the man behind classics like Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein 3D) will provide creative support, so it bodes well for fans of retro shooters.
Players take on the role of Johnny Turbo, a mercenary who wants to make his crime-ridden hometown of paradise safe. It does, of course, with a saw leg, which you seem to be able to rip to the ground with, and a feature called “Hero Time”, a kind of slow motion with a twist that will be announced.
As befits an old school shooter, Turbo Overkill consists of multiple levels filled with secrets, bonus arena stages, and puzzles. Turbo Overkill will be released in 2022 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
