At 7.15pm, RWDM and KAA Gent will start the final match of Round 9. If KAA Gent gets the three points, they will advance again.
Hugo Kuipers did not regain his fitness after last Wednesday’s match against Antwerp. Tarik Tisodale is the only player up front, while Gift Orban starts on the bench for Ghent.
AA Gent lineup:
In response to a journalist’s comment that he expected Hein Vanhaezebrouck to be happier, the Ghent coach replied: “I’m happy. But I’m never cheerful. I’m never dramatic. I’m always boring.”
“What’s the difference between glamorous and dramatic? Realistic. Realistic is boring. People don’t like that. People like big data.”
The problems and limitations that AA Gent faces: too many matches (including the European schedule), the call-up of international players who are always out for a while, injuries, and – according to Vanhaysbrouck – a small core.
He added, “We try to get through each match with as little damage as possible. Things are going well at the moment, but the possibility that the matter will suddenly explode in our faces is not non-existent.”
We’re not talking about the title. It’s October (laughs). It is ridiculous to talk about the title now, as the competition has only just begun. Are we stable? never. We are at the top, but we are surviving. With all the problems and restrictions we have, we try to keep going as long as possible.
