Tested for picture quality, sound quality and power consumption: This is the best TV for 48 to 50 inches | Technique

What is the best 48-50 inch TV? Which one has the best price-quality ratio? The Consumers Association provides the answer.

Having a large TV might be nice, but it’s not necessary in every living room or bedroom. The size that suits you depends mainly on your distance from your TV. Is this about 2.5 to 3.5 metres? Then a 48-50 inch TV is a good size and worthy of consideration.

The Consumers Association tests TVs of different sizes for picture quality, sound quality, ease of use and power consumption, among other things. A total of over 250 TVs have been tested and are currently available to a reasonably good extent.

Out of 48 TVs tested in the 48-50 inch category, LG’s OLED TV came out as the best TV in the test. This TV also has a very affordable price and is therefore also a best buy. As an alternative, we highlight a Philips TV that is larger than LG. This LCD TV from 2023 is slightly inferior to the OLED TV in terms of image.

Note: More TVs were selected as the best in the test. Here we highlight the TV at the lowest price.

This LG TV has excellent picture quality. Displays a clear, sharp image with natural, vibrant colors and excellent contrast. In addition, the TV has the best sound quality among all 48-50 inch TVs. The sound sounds clear and pleasant with good bass.

The TV is also very fun to use. You can operate the TV easily using the remote control. Smart TV provides you with all the popular apps like Netflix and YouTube. It has 3 HDMI connections and 2 USB ports.

The TV also has some drawbacks. The Smart TV menu is not very convenient and not very fast. And you can connect headphones only via Bluetooth.

This Philips image is slightly below the best in the test. Here too you see a clear and sharp image with natural colours. But in other areas like sound quality, ease of use, and power consumption, LG outperforms this TV.

The sound is fine, although some hiss is sometimes audible. The TV is also equipped with all known applications. It contains 4 HDMI connections and 2 USB ports. Unlike LG, you can connect headphones to this TV via wired or Bluetooth.

The downside of this TV is its power consumption. This is on the high side for this image size. The TV also has a rather small viewing angle and the Smart TV menu is not very convenient.

In this section we write weekly about home and technology appliances tested by the Consumers Association. This is a collaboration between the independent editors of this site and the Consumers Association.

The Consumers Association tests thousands of products every year, in cooperation with qualified technicians in specialized laboratories at home and abroad. The products tested are store-bought, so they are not pre-tampered with by the manufacturers.

New models are tested as soon as possible after introduction. How quickly this happens varies by product. Best in Test is the product with the best test rating. This may also be an older model, as a newer model is not always better. The best buy is the product with the best quality-price ratio.

The advertised price of the product is the lowest current retail price to the best of Consumers Association’s knowledge. But prices may vary daily. If there is no recent retail price known, the target price will be stated.
