“For a moment I thought he was looking for a red-haired actress,” Kim Holvoet laughs the day after Matthias Schoenaerts’s visit. “It was a customer who suddenly said that maybe I should ask for Matthias Schoenaerts first. When I went to the front of the store, I saw a man in a suit. To be honest, I didn’t recognize him at first. I greeted him and asked him what he wanted. When I looked closer after that, I saw that it was him. Mathias ordered a samosa sandwich with pickles instead of cucumbers and took time to take a photo with the manager and her employee.
I was completely upset and suddenly felt very warm
“He was very friendly, and a very charming guy. I have to admit I was a bit taken out of it and felt very warm in no time. He’s a global star who suddenly showed up at your business, but he acted very normal. And yet, I treated him like a regular customer. I prepared his sandwich as I would for any customer. The star actor paid the €4.20 due by card. “I don’t know what else he came to Wevelgem to do. Anyway, see you next time, he said. “I told him that of course he is always welcome.”
