After another Houdini act, Real Madrid recorded a perfect report in the Champions League group stage. Royal Madrid won 2-3 in Berlin, while Napoli also secured their place in the Champions League by defeating Braga 2-0.
In Group C, Union Berlin and Real Madrid faced off in an unnecessary match. The Germans were eliminated from Europe. The Spaniards were already certain of winning the group, although that did not mean Ancelotti gave star player Bellingham a rest.
In Berlin, the Royal team had better opportunities, but the goal was not within reach. The surprise was great when he scored the goal from the other side. After fumbling through Renault’s kick, Volland made it 0-1 before halftime.
But Real Madrid, of course, has a patent for correcting twisted situations in the Champions League. It was like that again in Berlin. Not Bellingham, but Joselu was the big man who scored two headed goals. From 1-0 to 1-2.
It looked like the game was over, but during Berlin’s final spasm, Kral scored an equalizer past Kepa. Real Madrid seemed capable of blowing the final whistle for a perfect report, but Ceballos’ low pass completed Houdini’s new work.
Napoli easily into second place
In the battle for second place, Napoli were diametrically opposed to Braga. The Portuguese had to win by two goals to progress beyond the group, but Saatchi’s early own goal put those hopes in doubt. Midway through the first half, Osimhen made it 2-0, and thus Napoli had already laid their sheep out on dry ground in the first half. The second half was a waste of time.
Final result of group C:
1. Real Madrid – 18 points
4. Union Berlin – 2 points
