Android Auto icons correspond to the smartphone’s cover

With Android Auto, you can bring mobile apps to your car’s screen. However, the program is not known for good customization, because, for example, the option to specify your own background or color themes is missing.

He beat up the editors 9to5Google Note that Android Auto has received some sort of customization options with the latest update. The shapes of the icons in the menu now adapt to the software of the connected smartphone. This means that you can now also recognize your manufacturer’s software shell on Android Auto.

Each Android smartphone manufacturer equips the devices with its own shell. For example, there is Samsung One UI, OnePlus Oxygen OS, and Xiaomi MIUI. These “skins” adjust the shape of app icons on your smartphone from round to square, rounded square, and more. Hence, this theme has been ported to your car screen with Android Auto version 11.0.

By the way, if you have a Google Pixel, you won’t see any change. After all, the standard Android Auto icons are the same as those on your smartphone.

Although you can’t change the look of the icons in every Android skin, it’s good to see that Android Auto now adapts to your smartphone. Not only the appearance of the icons changes, but also the design of the messaging app or the Settings app, for example. Even the icons in the status bar – which show the battery percentage and mobile range – change accordingly.
