Solar Magazine – SMA wants to build a new inverter factory in the US

The manufacturer says it is working with several states and potential partners to evaluate 'the most strategic manufacturing location and approach'. Site selection is expected in the first half of 2024. 200 new jobs are expected to be created in the first 3 years. The company also said there are opportunities to expand production capacity over time.

“The US is an important market and the Inflationary Reduction Act (IRA) offers an extraordinary opportunity for long-term growth,” said Jürgen Reinert, CEO of SMA. “With this move, we significantly strengthen our market share in the United States (US) and pave the way for SMA's future growth. Global demand for climate-friendly solar energy solutions and the urgent need for greater energy efficiency continue to grow.
