Former cyclist Peter Sagan must undergo new surgery on his heart. The 34-year-old Slovakian again suffered from an irregular heartbeat during training in Marseille, where he also underwent surgery at the end of last month. Now his heart “needs some kind of pause again,” writes Sagan, who wants to participate in the Games as a mountain biker.
Peter Sagan will undergo surgery next week. “There is nothing to worry about. Thanks to my friend and sports cardiologist Roberto Corsetti, I know that I will be back in the saddle soon,” said the three-time road world champion (2015-2017).
“Stay posted, I will keep you posted,” he concludes.
Sagan finished his career as a road cyclist last year, where he also won the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and the green jersey seven times.
He is now trying to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris next summer on a mountain bike. He has until the end of May to earn enough points.
