The area near Dorstead There will be a meeting for informal carers of someone with dementia on Monday 25 March. Topic: Changing the relationship in dementia about love and intimacy.

In a world often defined by memories, intimacy remains a precious gift for people with dementia. Although dementia is often accompanied by memory loss, the desire for human contact does not disappear.

Dementia can change the dynamics of relationships. Partners and loved ones become caregivers, personality changes occur and communication barriers increase. You often ask questions like: What if I'm no longer known? Does love disappear suddenly?

Even if memories are sometimes vague, the need for touch, affection and understanding remains. Psychologist Milo Beck at Ewoud and Elisabeth Gasthuis works with older adults with and without dementia. She explains how love and connection can continue to flourish, even in this difficult situation. There is also room to ask questions and share your own experiences.

The thematic meeting takes place from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, entry from 7:15pm in the E&E Gasthuis room 3 on Gansfortstraat 4. Register: mantelzorg@stichting-binding or call 0343 473070.
