Dimitri De Conde: “It has come to light that Wouter Franken wants to leave for KAA Gent”

Racing Genk will play football against Anderlecht for the first time tonight without Wouter Franken on the field. The collaboration was terminated this week. Dimitri De Conde, head of football at RC Genk, provided further clarification to rights holder Eleven DAZN: “The ball was in Wouter’s court and he chose to leave Genk.”

The marital problems between Wouter Franken and KRC Jenk were not suddenly surprising, but it was surprising that the divorce was announced so quickly.

On Eleven DAZN, Dimitri De Conde gave his version of the facts ahead of kick-off against Anderlecht.

“Before the match at Club Brugge (April 24) I received a phone call from Wouter’s entourage, who indicated his desire to leave for a specific club, KAA Gent.”

“This just arrived,” said the Genk driver. “After the match at home against Klopp (April 28), we had a conversation and a final conversation followed on Monday in which we indicated that there were two scenarios.”

“The first thing, and we think it was the best thing, was to sit down, maybe hit him well on the table, and then we would all move on.”

“But if Wouter really wanted to go to Genk, we should have stopped immediately. Because a jump-off match might follow. The ball was in his court and Wouter chose to leave Genk.”
