The doubts surrounding Youri Tielemans can once again be thrown into the trash. More than two weeks ago, the Red Devil suffered a groin injury. For a moment, he feared the worst – a cross in the European Championship – but against Liverpool he showed he was his old self. Tielemans made it 1-1 with great force. His team completed the comeback in a crazy final stage.
This is how you reassure the national team coach and the fans.
Youri Tielemans celebrated his return to Aston Villa’s starting lineup after a minor thigh injury. The Red Devil witnessed his goalkeeper failing to stop Liverpool’s cross in the first minute.
Right behind him, then. Although he changed that himself. With a powerful strike into the bottom corner, he brought the home team – under the watchful eye of great actor Tom Hanks – back on level terms.
Until Liverpool switched gears.
Jackpo easily pushed the lead against the ropes, with defender Quansah heading in his first Premier League goal.
So it looks like Klopp and company were on the move on Monday evening. In Villa Park. Although that was without counting John Doran. In 3 crazy minutes – and in the second with more luck than skill – he already gave Aston Villa a point.
An important addition in the race for the last Champions League ticket. Tielemans’ team has 68 points with one round to go, five more than rivals Tottenham. Although Tottenham still have to play a catch-up game against Manchester City tomorrow.
A clumsy mistake by Martinez in the first minute:
Jackpo pushes the score 1-2 into the goal
Quansah scores his first goal in the competition
