City Weather: Phil Foden is the Premier League Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season

The award for best player in the English Premier League comes from Manchester City for the fifth year in a row. The day before the final match-day title climax, a judging panel made up of football experts, media and fans chose 23-year-old Phil Foden as Player of the Season.

After Kevin De Bruyne (2020, 2022), Ruben Dias (2021), and Erling Haaland (2023), his teammate Phil Foden has achieved the goal this season.

The attacking midfielder, who made his debut for Manchester City in 2016, has had his best season.

He scored 17 goals and provided 8 assists in 34 league matches. He scored 25 goals in all competitions and made 11 goals.

Tomorrow he can lay down the crowning achievement with his teammates. City enters the final day with a two-point lead over runner-up Arsenal. Victory over West Ham at home is enough to secure the fourth title in as many years. Arsenal hosts Everton.

Foden could become the youngest player to win 6 English titles. “I am very proud,” the young man replied. “It was truly a pleasure to be nominated among all the other major players.”

“I’m happy with the way my season has gone and very happy that I was able to contribute with my goals and assists.”

Foden was chosen from among 7 other candidates: Haaland, Isak, Odegaard, Palmer, Rice, Van Dijk and Watkins. Virgil van Dijk was the last non-City player to win the title in 2019.

Earlier this month, Foden also won the Journalism Award for Football Writing.
