The so-called “Space Weekend” gives enthusiasts the opportunity to discover the wonders of space in a fun way. The highlight of Saturday 22 June will be a meeting with the only Dutch astronaut with two space missions to his name: Andre Kuipers. Andre comes to talk about his 204-day journey in space to inspire the youngest astronauts in the making.
Build a spaceship
Additionally, visitors can spend the entire weekend building with Lego space sets and participating in workshops, such as building their own spaceship. Only 70 tickets are available for Andre’s show. For more information and tickets, see www.legolanddiscoverycentre.nl.
Unique opportunity
“We are very pleased to welcome the most famous Dutch astronaut during the ‘Space Weekend’. His presence provides a unique opportunity for our visitors, especially young space enthusiasts, to learn more about living and working in space. Children are probably full of questions that they can “Pitch it to a real space explorer.”
Full moon
The “Space Weekend” coincides with the full moon on June 22. This gives the weekend an extra dimension, according to Honfeld. “Although Andre has never been to the moon himself, as an astronaut, he has admired the moon from space countless times and can share fascinating stories about the moon’s impact on our planet and space travel.”
