WhatsApp users can now set sending photos automatically and always in HD quality. To do this, they have to make one-time adjustments in the settings.
What preceded it? Since August 2023, you can send photos – and later videos too – to your contacts in HD quality on WhatsApp. To do this, until recently, you had to separately indicate for each photo or video you sent that you wanted to send it in a higher quality.
In the news: The latter is no longer necessary now. You can now indicate in your settings which types of photos should be sent automatically.
How it works?
- Open WhatsApp.
- On Android, tap the three dots at the top right and then tap Settings. On your iPhone, you can immediately tap “Settings” at the bottom right.
- Click on “Storage & Data”.
- Click “Media Download Quality”.
- Choose Standard Quality whether you want HD Quality.
- Click “Save”.
This option has recently become available on both Android and iOS. Don’t see it yet on your smartphone? Then check for WhatsApp update.
HD quality
WhatsApp considers HD quality to be a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This is much more than the standard resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Sending images in HD quality can take about six times as long and uses more data.
videos? to Send videos in high definitionYou still have to manually adjust the quality of the video you want to forward each time. Still want to send videos in high quality? This can be done via Documents. Videos you forward this way will not be shown in chat.
