Apple’s new speaker can be taken to the beach

The new version of the Apple Beats portable speaker has been officially announced. The new Beats Pill has a battery life of up to 24 hours, and will also be available for sale in the Netherlands later this summer.

Back in April, basketball player LeBron James was already walking around with the new version of the Beats Pill, but today Apple has already released the portable speaker Officially unveiled. Apple’s Beats brand sold the pill-shaped Bluetooth speaker for a decade, but it was pulled from the market in 2022. Now the Beats Pill is back with a number of improvements.

The updated speaker is slightly larger and lighter than its predecessor, but the shape remains the same. The new version is also a little louder and has a heavier bass sound. You can listen to music for 24 hours with a full battery.

Water resistant

The new headset is available in black, red, and gold and has a carrying strap to make it easy to carry. The Beat Pill is suitable for the beach, as it is waterproof (IP67 rating) and can withstand dust, dirt and sand. “You can take it to the pool, the beach or a rainy place without any worries,” says Apple.

In addition, the new speaker has a USB-C charging port and Bluetooth connectivity has been improved. You can also find the speaker via the Apple Find My app.

Buttons and Siri

The updated Beats Pill has four buttons: two for volume control, a music control button, and an on/off button. The latter also lets you use Siri via a paired iPhone. Two speakers can be connected together to create a stereo set.

Price and availability

The new Beats Pill speaker is already on sale in the first countries, but will only be available in the Netherlands later this summer for €169.95. This makes the headset 60 euros cheaper than its predecessor.
