Sonos appears to be working on a successor to its Arc speaker. The Sonos Lasso, as the new Dolby Atmos speakers are called, is said to feature speaker technology that comes from a Dutch company.
This is evident from images of the new, as-yet-unknown Sonos speakers (provisionally named Lasso) in the hands of the edgeThe images show speakers very similar in design to the Arc, but under the hood there are new features to discover.
For example, a photo of the Lasso’s back shows that the speaker has a Bluetooth button, indicating the ability to play content via this protocol. This is a function that was not present in previous speakers. You will also see a switch that can disable the speaker’s internal microphone. But of course, you should be able to hear the most significant upgrades to the Atmos speakers, and this is where a piece of Dutch technology comes in.

Sonos paid $100 million to Dutch startup Mayht in 2022. The company has technology that allows it to make speakers smaller without sacrificing sound quality. It’s possible that this technology was used in the Lasso speakers. According to sources at The Verge, the Lasso offers significantly better bass than its predecessor. With the Arc, you’ll have to add a Sonos Sub or Sub Mini if you want to hear good bass notes.
Finally, that brings us to the final bit of rumor: the price of the new Sonos speaker. According to The Verge , it’s priced at around $1,200. That’s a big step up from the original Arc’s $799 launch price. But keep in mind that the better bass eliminates the need for an additional subwoofer, and the price may be more reasonable. In any case, you should take all of the above information with a grain of salt for now, as none of it has been confirmed by Sonos.
