A new day in the Tour, a new bombshell from Tadej Pogacar. The yellow jersey has been put back on the shelf on the Col du Noyer. “Let’s stretch our legs,” said the leader, who added a feather to his Visma-Lease a Bike cap.
He doesn’t need it given his progress, but Tadej Pogacar still has a shot at the final. “It was a very good day,” he said with a laugh. “The start was like a young man: a 125km race.”
He was clearly itching on the Col du Noir. “I just wanted to stretch my legs,” he sounded rather excited. “It was a nice day.”
Attack, attack, attack again. It’s in the Slovenian DNA. “I don’t know, maybe.”
“I don’t remember why I tried it, but I’m satisfied. It took two seconds on Jonas (Vingyard).”
He lost 10 seconds to Remco Evenepoel. “He was very good and had a great final.”
“But the teamwork at Visma-Lease a Bike was really good. If Jonas hadn’t had anyone at the front (he was helped by Pinot and Van Aert at the end, ed.), Remco and I could have put more pressure on him.”
“Maybe the result would have been different, but Jonas did very well with his team.”
