Primoz Roglic suffered a broken lower back in a fall on the tour: ‘I’ll take time to recover’

Primoz Roglic has broken his lower back in a fall during the Tour de France. The Slovenian from Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe announced it himself this evening on Instagram. “I’m taking some time to recover and we’ll see where this leads,” he wrote.

“Life isn’t always easy, is it?” In an Instagram post, Primoz Roglic reflects on his fall in the Tour de France.

On stage 12, the Slovenian was one of the biggest casualties after a major crash in the peloton. Alexei Lutsenko dived onto the street furniture, and several riders ended up on the asphalt. Roglic finished the stage but gave up the following day.

“Further examinations after the fall revealed a non-displaced fracture in a vertebra in my lower back,” Roglic said.

“Last week, I worked on my recovery at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center, where I was taken care of in the best possible way.”

“I am slowly getting back on the bike. I am taking my time to recover and we will see where it takes us. In these difficult times I have realised once again that I have the best fans,” concluded the Slovenian.
