Both Roos Vanotterdijk and Lucas Henveaux put in encouraging performances in their morning session. Vanotterdijk swam her second fastest time ever in the 100m backstroke heats, good for a place in the semi-finals. Henveaux broke the Belgian record with a time of 7:51.51 minutes. Unfortunately for our compatriot, he was unable to break that record again in the final.
“I’m definitely satisfied,” says Ross Vanotterdijk after winning the 100m backstroke. With 59’68 she swam her second-fastest time ever.

“I had no expectations, but I’m very happy with this time. The feeling in the water is a bit strange in the backstroke. I often slip with my hands, but the race itself was good.”
“When I saw my time, I was surprised,” she says. “I can’t predict how well I’ll do in the 100m backstroke split.”

Henfo “satisfied” and “disappointed”
“It wasn’t a bad race, especially since I didn’t go to bed until late last night,” Lucas Hinfo opened after his Belgian record, which unfortunately wasn’t enough to secure a place in the final. “I’ve now got two best times in three songs. So I’m happy with this race.”
This was due to our compatriot’s strong final race. “The Olympics are only held every 4 years. So I gave it my all in the last 50 metres,” he explains.
“I’m happy with the last song of my Games,” Henfo continues. “I look back on my championship with relief and disappointment. I’m in good shape but I was disappointed in the 400m. It wasn’t my day last Saturday.”
However, the talented Belgian is looking forward immediately: “It was a great experience that made me want more. I now have 4 years to work hard and be there in Los Angeles as a favorite in more than one song.”

Henveaux swims Belgian record in 800m freestyle
Henveaux third in Belgian record!
7’51″51, that’s the Belgian record for Lucas Hinfo! Our compatriot improves his time and takes third place in his series. That’s not enough to get a place in the final, so his matches are over.
In another 100m, Lucas Hinfo finished third in his heat, one-tenth above his Belgian record.
Henveaux swam his last 50 metres with great consistency.

Vanoterdijk in 9th place to semi-finals
59″68 is more than enough to secure a place in the semi-finals for Ross Vanotterdijk. Our compatriot is swimming in 9th place among all participants. Tonight after 9pm she will jump into the pool again.
The turning point could be faster, so there is still room for improvement in Vanotterdijk.

Roos Vanotterdijk had a strong start and final race. She finished fourth in her heat with a time of 59’68. An excellent time – 6 hundredths above the Belgian record – for the Belgian. At the moment, good for sixth fastest time among all swimmers, with one more heat remaining.

Summer McIntosh won the 400m medley relay in the heats. With a time of 4’37’35, she came in third among all swimmers. She didn’t let her strength slack off on her way to the final.
First up, it’s the women’s 400m individual medley. We’re looking forward to Summer McIntosh in the second series.
