YouTube before bed? With this useful function, you will no longer wake up early

Want to watch YouTube in bed before going to sleep? Many people do, but if you fall asleep, it keeps going and may wake you up again. YouTube comes with a sleep timer for bedside viewers.

A sleep timer is different from an alarm. Instead of being an alarm that you set and then makes a sound to wake you up, it actually pauses YouTube if you fall asleep. The video pauses after a period of time that you set yourself. Useful for those who listen to long podcasts or intentionally play noise (white noise) to fall asleep. YouTube isn’t the first to offer a sleep timer: Spotify has had it for a while and TikTok is currently testing it too.

Sleep timer on youtube

After signing up, YouTube users can open the video service on a mobile or desktop device and then go to the settings menu to set the sleep timer. You can choose between 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. When the sleep timer goes off, YouTube pauses playback and a pop-up window appears asking if you want to reset the timer.

Not yet for everyone

The sleep timer is not available to all YouTube users. It is currently being tested only among YouTube Premium subscribers. They can find the option by Labs Page From YouTube under Sleep Timer.

This new sleep timer will be tested for people who watch YouTube instead of counting sheep until September 2, after which it may roll out to more users.
