Drinks a can of Red Bull, scores a goal, laughs at empty trophy cabinet – Tottenham: Jamie Vardy is back

He didn’t touch the ball much, but Jamie Vardy’s impact was huge. Once again, the Leicester City talisman did what he has done so many times for the Foxes: score.

Did the stimulant help the rest? In the catacombs, the striker downed a can of Red Bull in one gulp. And 12 minutes later he was already in the right place to score the equaliser against Tottenham, his 137th Premier League goal.

The 37-year-old Englishman scored 8 goals on the opening day of the Premier League season. Only Mohamed Salah has done better (also since last weekend) with 9 goals.

Vardy was happier to have scored against Tottenham of all places. In the historic title year of 2016, Tottenham were Leicester’s last remaining challengers.

A 2-2 draw with Chelsea then knocked Tottenham out of the title race. Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who had proudly posted about lion hunting on social media before the game, was quickly met with a response.

Now Vardy couldn’t resist Tottenham’s stab.

When he was substituted, Vardy first pointed to the Premier League badge on his sleeve and held up his finger in the air to count Leicester’s titles. He then pointed to the outside box with a clear zero.

Manager Steve Cooper also couldn’t believe his eyes, because Vardy wasn’t actually fit. “But he said he felt good,” he told Sky Sports.

“Because we didn’t have a decent striker, he made himself available. “He only trained once and then did it,” the coach said.
