The silence in Zandvoort was deafening for a moment. During the third practice session at the Dutch circuit, Logan Sargeant went off the rails. His car immediately caught fire and was surprisingly badly damaged. Fortunately, the Williams driver managed to escape in time. “He has to get out now,” George Russell also said as he passed.
Right after the “summer break” everyone is back to the action in Formula 1.
As the drivers were doing their third practice session at the Zandvoort circuit, things went very badly for Logan Sargeant. The Williams driver missed a corner and flew hard into the wall.
His car was completely destroyed and quickly caught fire, creating a dangerous situation.
George Russell, who was driving, quickly realized the dire situation and urged his colleague to get away. His team radio went, “Get out! Your car is on fire.” Fortunately, Sargent was able to escape his car in time.
The guardrail had to be repaired, so the outage lasted most of practice. When the race resumed, the drivers still had two minutes to get to the track. Several drivers, such as world champion and World Cup leader Max Verstappen (Red Bull), were unable to drive a competitive time.
